Synopsis: On the planet Zarathustra, Jack Holloway and others investigate a large titanium deposit. Since titanium is vary scarce on Zarathustra and since the Fuzzies need this metal in their diet (a contradiction), it is hoped that this discovery will shed some light on Fuzzy origins and Fuzzy metabolism. Besides the giant deposit, a wealth of sunstones is found in a nearby cave. This touches off a mob riot which tries to take over the new mine. They are of course stopped.

Review: The first two Fuzzy books were written by H. Bean Piper. This book, by a different author, is billed as having the same flavor as the first two. This is essentially true. It is well written and I was never bored. However, there is virtually no plot; and 370 pages is long time to go without a plot! The central theme is the discovery of the deposit and the subsequent discovery that the Fuzzies were once a space traveling race. Unfortunately, as soon as it was revealed that the object was a space ship, it was obvious that the Fuzzies piloted it to Zarathustra. Most of the suspense of the book was over a long time before 'THE END'.

"Fuzzy Bones" has many subplots. Usually detailed subplots can really make a story. In this case, their importance is only a little less important than the main plot. This makes it very difficult to understand the whole book. Indeed, I'm having trouble now remembering what it was about and I finished it only a few days ago.
