"Invaders!" is anthology of short stories from the 1950s and reads like it. Though not a terrible collection, it is also not particularly interesting. Most of the stories could have taken place in any new frontier. The first three stories had very similar plot-lines. In some situation, a company or government official arrives on planet to take command. He appears to be a buffoon but ends up saving the day.

In "An Ounce of Emotion", one of the better stories, two humans negotiate with two superpowers in an attempt to stop their war. They have a device (computer) which predicts that the outcome of any war will not be as good as peace. The idea of Earth being in the sphere of influence of more powerful aliens is interesting enough but the limitation of computers are by now well known.

The collection is named for the last story, "Invaders!", which is about an aggressive general and his government observer. They arrive on an outskirts planet to mobilize the locals to fight off an alien invasion. This could have been much better but most of the story was simply descriptions of fight scenes.
